a brief compilation of hot sauce era videos that make my little renhyuck brain go WHIRRRRR
honestly i wrote this entire thing and then was like "is this even worth it?" because i am absolutely going to do an in depth meta post on renhyuck at some point in my life, and this is not indepth in any matter, but.... i wrote this. so i'm publishing it.
i’m not getting into scholarship here, or anything of that sort (at least not in a non flocked post). this is just what i believe is really really good stuff to use a springboard for getting into shipping renhyuck in the current era. as their relationship has changed a lot from era to era, hot sauce is just good to start with, because it's so fucking EASY to see their chemistry in every video.
also can we talk about hot sauce era for a second? normally we used to look at videos and go: does this even have renhyuck? did they look at each other? but now the question is: what gay shit did they do this time?

listen. anyone who is reading this post will have watched this, but i can't NOT put this here. this is just going first on the list because i think this is the single most important thing to watch in terms of renhyuckism. like it’s not their watershed moment (that’s grandma’s house, and i WILL make my renhyuck meta post one day including that video), but cmon guys. i think this is what will be the cause for many people noticing them this era.

renjun is all over haechan. haechan is all over renjun. they gravitate to each other constantly. they cuddle. they hug. they try to constantly get the other one to hang out with them. this series drives me insane. there are like 15+ moments in each episode. i know this is a lot of content to start out with but like. this is truly so important. i cant believe we got handed the holy scripture of renhyuckism free of charge. this is THE moment where it’s so easy to notice that something has physically shifted, and if i wanted to get anyone into this ship i’d show them grandma’s house and this series.
the most important episode is, imo, episode two. just the way renhyuck are in the foot volleyball game. listen im trying not to get jumped here but seriously. haechan treats him SO delicately. originally he's like 'you don't have to play', but he calls renjun in a few rounds later and he is instantly encouraging him and involving him and just heaping praise on him. cheering him on, passing the ball to him and telling him he did so well and renjun just GLOWS under his praise. also i love renjun backing haechan up.. when haechan does his stupid whistle thing renjun is instantly like 'yellow card!!!'. again they just play off each other so well. god what a good scene.

this was it for ME. this was the video that made me go ‘oh my god renhyuck boyfriends???’. i know we can’t tell much from fancams because its the stage thing but come on. the way they look at each other, they way renjun literally CAN’T stop looking at haechan and smiling. they’re in love. they made it blatant. this is the patent smile renjun has for haechan, and he just does it over and over.

this is a really good one. there’s a lot of direct interaction and chatting, though renjun is very distracted by the shiny trophy, but the biggest thing to pay attention to is actually their legs. they readjust constantly so they’re touching each other for most of the vlive. like there's no need for them to MANSPREAD so much just so their knees are touching. this is the kind of subtle body language that's super important imo. this is also the vlive where haechan pulls renjun in for a hug to whisper in his ear and basically all of dream stop what they’re doing to watch them, a moment that sent me into a fucking spiral. BODY LANGUAGE man.

this video makes me feel like i could chew straight through concrete. i wish i could rank this higher but dive into you and 7llin are too potent. but seriously, the way renjun will walk from the back of the relay line to the front to interact with haechan and haechan does the same. they go off in their own world so much. the dance they do together, just the way they look at each other. it’s pure classic renhyuckism. this one blew up twitter for a while for a good reason lol.

why do i link so many vlives? generally because they’re unscripted and a lot more natural. you’ll get a lot of body language based things, which is good because renhyuck are often quite nonverbal. i’ve been slowly collecting quotes from the two of them and it’s hard because a lot of their big moments are just staring at each other, or things that dont work in text. we’ve been blessed that they’ve sat beside each other in nearly every vlive this era, so there’s so much good stuff in these.

as of this post this is really recent, but it’s so damn good. haechan kisses renjun because he’s too cute, haechan ruffles renjun’s hair and then giggles at how cute he is. he plays with his jumper, he pinches his cheeks (and renjun cant stay mad at him. haechan is constantly upping the ante in annoying renjun because the ways he did it before just don’t WORK anymore, like now this guy is trying to backhug you 24/7.. he has to do more to make renjun annoyed).
i like this vlive because for once it’s haechan making eyes at renjun, usually it’s the other way around. you can tell how haechan is obviously overwhelmed with how cute renjun is here.

the by now infamous Mental Camp elbow kiss. the kiss is surprising — Renjun’s sheer confidence he’s giving here like wow i can’t believe we got renjun kissing haechan’s elbow with zero hesitation. BUT it’s haechan’s shy and flustered reaction that fucking gets me like oh my god. he did NOT expect renjun to do that?? and he can’t stop smiling to himself he is so pleased. this is too cute.

AND THE WORST PART IS THIS IS BARELY ALL OF IT LIKE there has been renhyuck in basically every single video this era, and it's not even in the boom era type 'they talked to each other' way it's like hugs and longing stares and renjun falling over laughing at haechan's jokes. it's actually barbaric. i just wanted to make this as a like 'this is what stands out the most to me' post but there was SO MUCH missing. there IS so much missing.
